This parish has supported the work of the Bible Society for several years. Bible Sunday, which usually falls in October is marked by some kind of special service, which may include an outside speaker. This is usually followed by a display in the church hall of Bibles and Bible Reading materials.
Our home-groups give regularly to Bible-Society by donating their coffee money and several members are part of the Bible-a Month scheme. Bible society was featured as our chosen charity in our Christmas Card Tree appeal, two years ago. Updates of Bible Society news appear on the Missions Notice Board, in occasional articles in Seasight and on the Bible Society website.

An active committee of ten organise fundraising events to support the various initiatives of the society e.g. A network of Children's Centres to help young children at a community level.
A network of mentors who help young people find their way in the world by listening to them and offering them advice on how to handle situations.
Working locally in Littlehampton is P.A.R.-Participation,Advocacy and Rights. "Safe & Sound" is a supporting and campaigning project ,for the thousands of children who feel forced to run away from home each year and who are living scared and alone on the streets.

An article about the work of the Children's Society from the April 2010 Seasight Magazine:
The Children’s Society has a long history in this village having had two children’s homes until they ‘went out of fashion’ some 20/30 years ago when the last one closed. There was Carruthers Corfield House in Shaftesbury Road, which helped diabetic children learn to cope with their illness, and also Fairlight on the Worthing Road, a general home. Eventually the two homes were amalgamated into Shaftesbury Road and Fairlight was sold to become a Nursing Home. The children from both homes attended local schools and, of course, our Sunday School. When we first started having Christingle Services the Christingles were prepared in the kitchen of Carruthers Corfield House by the children and the House Parents, Jim and Maisie Nightingale
Jill Leslie’s Grandfather, Dr.Carruthers Corfield, who was Vicar’s Warden for many years, had a lifelong interest in the Children’s Society eventually taking the Chair of the National Executive Committee. When he retired to Rustington he took great interest in the two children’s homes here being instrumental in moving one home from Steyning to Fairlight on the Worthing Road and being responsible for the purchase and alteration to the Home in Shaftesbury Road. This home was named after him on his 90 Birthday.
During the past 12 months the Parish Committee for the Children’s Society have been busy raising money with remade cards, collecting boxes and many social events to help the Society support children across the nation who have very many problems some of which lead them to run away from home. We have also been blessed with a substantial donation from the Parish Tithe and adding that to our other efforts we have sent the magnificent sum of £5,576.55 to the Society this year. Many thanks to all in the Parish for your support.
